Installing Therefore

Installing the Therefore client software

This guide will guide you or your IT team through the installation process for the Therefore software we provide for you. This contains step by step instructions to take you through each stage of the install process, along with screenshots for reference. If you are unsure of anything in the installation process or run into any issues, please feel free to contact support@itspectrum.co.uk and we will be happy to assist.

The Install Process

  • Navigate to the Therefore share. This is most likely \\{SERVER_NAME}\Therefore$ then locate and run ‘TheClient’ for the correct Therefore version



  • When prompted if you would like to let the application make changes to the computer, select Yes.

    • Please note that in some cases, you may need credentials entering from a user who is an administrator - this is usually your IT department/supplier

    • Multiple prompts may pop up when running this, ensure these are for Therefore and then confirm these.



  • If prompted, install any prerequisites required for the Therefore installation.




  • In the installer wizard, untick ‘Check online for latest version’ and click next > next > accept and next



  • Select the region where you are based



  • Agree to the End-User License Agreement



  • On the Setup Type, select custom



  • For the install location, you can leave this as default unless your IT team state otherwise



  • Install entire features for: 

    • Navigator

    • Microsoft Explorer 

    • Microsoft Office 



  • Once the relevant features have been selected, click Next 

  • Tick Local Network (connect via DCOM) and enter the name (or IP address) of the Therefore server, then click next

    • Alternatively, if you are a Therefore Online customer this will be https://{tenant_name}/thereforeonline.com/TheXMLServer. The tenant name will also need entering

      • If you are unsure of your tenant information, please contact support@itspectrum.co.uk and we will be happy to provide you with this information

    • If you connect using XML, you may need to contact your IT or IT@Spectrum for this information



  • On the final page, select Install

 

  • Select Run/Yes to any prompts that show during the installation phase

  • Once finished, untick "Launch Therefore Navigator" and click Finish
