Managing Licenses in Qlik Sense

How to Apply Licenses in Qlik

This guide will instruct you on how to re-assign licenses in Qlik Sense. In order to do this, you will need access to the Qlik Management Console (QMC) and the relevant permissions to change license allocations.

Allocating Licenses

  1. Access the QMC on your PC
    1. This is your usual QlikSense URL but instead of this being /hub, it is /qmc
      1. An example of this is
        1. Of course, your URL may be different
  2. When you have gained access to the QMC, navigate to the "License Management" section

  1. Depending on your requirements, access either "Professional access allocations" or "Analyzer access allocations"
    1. This this example, we will access Analyzer

  1. If you have free licenses available, you will see an "+ Allocate" button at the bottom of the page. When selecting this, you can pick the user(s) you wish to assign a license to
    1. To select multiple users, hold Ctrl when clicking each user
  2. Select "Allocate" to then allocate the licenses to the selected users

  3. You will now see the relevant users in the list for allocated licenses.

Deallocating Licenses

  1. Access the QMC on your PC
    1. This is your usual QlikSense URL but instead of this being /hub, it is /qmc
      1. An example of this is 
        1. Of course, your URL may be different
  2. When you have gained access to the QMC, navigate to the "License Management" section

    1. Depending on your requirements, access either "Professional access allocations" or "Analyzer access allocations"
      1. This this example, we will access Analyzer

  3. Select the relevant users in the list and select "Deallocate" from the bottom of the page
    1. This is next to "+ Allocate"
If the "Last Used" date is within the last seven days, the license cannot be re-allocated immediately. The license in question must have not been used in the past seven days in order for this to be assigned immediately, otherwise this will go into "Quarantine" until the seven days are up.
